I’m sat writing my article the day after the show and what a fantastic two days.
We managed to pack a lot in. It was great to catch up with so many members but also good to keep our lobbying up with meetings with local MPs Aphra Brandreth and Esther McVey and Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner Dan Price.
We were also joined by our national dairy, livestock, poultry and combinable crops board chairs, along with NFUM farmer area representative and member, Henry Brooks.
Our educational tent was as packed as ever with group after group of schoolchildren coming through. When they entered the marquee you would hear a high-pitch scream of excitement with all the activities take part in. The marquee had the most amazing buzz about it.
From cow milking demonstrations, apple pressing, lambing Sally the sheep, Evolution the bull and holding chicks to digging up the potatoes, there was so much going on. It was also lovely to be recognised for all our hard work with a highly commended for our hospitality marquee.
Our education tent was awarded second in its class and the cherry on top had to be being awarded the John Platt award by the chairman for his best stand. It’s such a team effort and team Cheshire at its best.
It was an exhausting few days but a big thank you to everyone who has made the show such a success yet again. I’m humbled to work with such a lovely team of people. Thank you to all those involved.
