We recently held two successful health and safety events, generously hosted by F J Clabon and Jonny Wyatt. It was encouraging to see so many members prioritising safety on farms. These sessions provided practical insights and reinforced the importance of vigilance during high-risk periods, particularly harvest.
A strong presence at the Royal Norfolk Show
The Royal Norfolk Show was another highlight, offering valuable opportunities to engage with our members and stakeholders. We met with most of Norfolk’s MPs and were pleased to welcome Farming Minister Daniel Zeichner on the second day. These conversations remain critical for shaping policies that support farming businesses.
We would also encourage all members to continue writing to their local MPs – your voice makes a real difference in influencing decisions that impact our industry.
Stakeholder collaboration
Beyond parliamentary engagement, we have strengthened relationships with key local stakeholders, including local councils, the fire service, and police. These partnerships are essential in ensuring that rural communities remain supported and that issues affecting agriculture stay on the agenda.
Progress on Norwich Livestock Market
A major development has been progress on the Norwich Livestock Market. The Bill has successfully passed its third reading in Parliament without opposition. Subject to Royal Assent, it will become law soon.
I would like to thank all members who took the time to respond and support this important initiative.
